Social media = immediate response. True or false?
Well, what if I told you it was both?
There’s a prevailing mindset in the business world that social media marketing should be just that… immediate. After all, when you joined FaceBook and typed in your workplace, schools, hometowns, etc., it immediately connected you with 300 people even if 250 of them were people you didn’t like in high school. You had instant connections. Therefore social media marketing should be instant, right?
Wrong. This mindset has been spread far and wide by marketers who want to give their clients glossy, full-colored reports with impressive numbers about engagement and reach. But at the root of it all, social media is about building a relationship. And relationships take a little time.
So, here at z25 Marketing, we’re not going to tell you that we will double, triple or quadruple your followers in the first two months, even though we very well might just do that. Instead we’re going to tell you that we’ll tell your story… what you have to offer… to the people who want to hear (dare we say even need to hear) what you have to offer. We will even educate them on the topic in the process. But it is just that… a process.
The bottom line is this: if you want to have an immediate ROI (return on investment) that you can easily track, we can do that. There is almost always something you can give away, discount, hype up, plan an event around, etc that will give you the instant and track-able results you might crave and those things are fabulous to get the ball rolling and keep it rolling if you can afford them! But the most important way a small business is built is through relationships with your community. Social media is fabulous for doing just that. But here’s the kicker… it takes time and consistency. Just like any courtship, there’s a “getting to know you better” period. So yes, take the plunge! And then be ready to hang in there for the long haul! If you build it, they will come. If you keep it up well, they will keep coming back!
